About
About this guide
A plain guide from someone who has been through bed bugs, written for the next person who finds one.
Who writes this
Years ago, bed bugs showed up in my first apartment. I didn’t recognize them at first. I explained the signs away for months, and when I finally knew, I had to move out and sort through almost everything I owned. That whole story is here.
When it was over, I wished I’d had one calm, plain place to read what to do, in the right order, without scare stories or miracle cures. That’s what this site tries to be.
What this site is, and isn’t
- It’s my own experience, plus practical steps that helped me and that people commonly ask about.
- It isn’t a pest control company, and it doesn’t sell treatments or products.
- It isn’t medical, legal or pest control advice. Using pesticides is regulated and licensed in many places, including Ontario, so treatment is a job for a licensed pest control professional.
Why “Exorcist”?
Because that’s how it felt: like the apartment was haunted by something I couldn’t see. The name stayed. Most of the jokes didn’t.
Reader stories
Everyone’s situation is different, so readers can share what happened to them. Every story is read before it goes up, and it’s labelled as a reader’s story, not advice.

This guide shares my own experience and general tips. I’m not a pest control company. If you think you have bed bugs, a licensed pest control professional can confirm it and treat your home.
